ARTIST STATEMENT

I am drawn to characters that don't exist. The ones you have to imagine before you can make them real. Clay gives me that freedom. I can build what lives in my head, creations that bend the rules, forms that feel so familiar that they should exist.

Each flower I build is chosen deliberately, the species it's inspired from, the scale, the color. A flower carries history and emotional weight. I want that weight to carry into the clay. My pieces are an invitation to look closer.

The characters I create do the same. They play on the experience of being seen as different, of being too much or not enough, of existing outside the expected shape of things. There are many layers in each piece. I want you to find them slowly.

The world I build in clay has room for everything the real one forgot to include.
